World Water Day

Today is World Water Day! World Water day is an International day held annually on 22 March where attention is focused on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

Water is a natural resource that we all cannot live without but the cleaner the better. Here in New Zealand we are fortunate with not only large supplies of freshwater but also water that is clean and the majority swimmable which is a great accomplishment over many other countries. The trouble is the larger we get as a country the larger the risk that we will start to damage our freshwater resources and as a result we need to take responsibility in looking after our waters for ourselves and future generations to come.

We take pride in being clean and green New Zealand so let’s aim to keep it that way this World Water Day and all take one step in improving our water. Whether it is watching what we pour down the drain to ensuring all rubbish is correctly disposed of. Even in the Pharmacy new regulations have come into place regarding correct waste disposal, each are little steps to work towards the big goal of protecting our waters.

What steps will you commit to this World Water Day?
